When your identity is stolen a person can pretend to be you and write unwanted messages that can get you in trouble and in a worst case scenario, they can steal a lot of your money. Most people believe that they are safe and it is unlikely to happen to them but they are sadly wrong. In 2005, 12,000 Canadians had their identity stolen and that number has greatly increased because the growth of technology. As technology changes, there is a bigger chance of your identity being stolen. To help you keep your personal information safe, here are some tips: keep information that you would not like to be public, out of the internet. If you are applying for a job, the employer can look up what you had previously written to see if you are a worthy for the job position. Even if you deleted the information, the record would stay with you in the archives of the website or it can even be of another person's page. It is important to keep your location unknown because a person will know if your house is empty or not and that is certainly not a good thing.
