The Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) is a privacy law made by Canada's private sector. This law states rules for how businesses can collect, use, and disclose information about you that in businesses that you spend money in. The PIPEDA gives you the right to able be to see and ask for corrections in information that companies could have gathered about you.
The PIPEDA gives you control over your information by requiring companies ask your permission before using the information concerning you. It gives you the right to know why the organization is using the information about you, the right to know that the company will use your information properly and the right to know that a company will protect your personal information and take proper security measures.
